With Newcastle United now being seen as one of Europe’s richest football clubs, and able to spend huge amounts in the transfer market, there will be endless wild claims about offers from the Magpies.
That’s happened to a certain extent already in the January window, but with Eddie Howe’s side now looking near certain to stay in the Premier League, the claims will get even wilder in the coming months.
Corriere dello Sport goes over one of those in their Saturday edition.
According to the Italian newspaper, there’s still some shaking at Napoli following an approach from Newcastle, presumably in January, for Victor Osimhen and Fabian Ruiz.
The report says the club offered €100m for Osimhen and ‘just under’ €50m for Ruiz.
Napoli are said to be ‘convinced’ that ahead of the summer, ‘Newcastle will remember’ and return for the pair.
Corriere dello Sport report the offer was rejected, and Ruiz didn’t fancy the move anyway. They suggest it will be the same for the Spaniard in the summer, who prefers a return to Spain, although for Osimhen the chance of a move to Newcastle is considered greater.
