Milliyet journalist Serdar Saridag has spoken to Turkish website Sporx about the future of Newcastle United target Garry Rodrigues.
The Galatasaray attacker has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League in recent weeks, with reports Newcastle United could look to sign him this summer.
Saridag said he’s been informed Rodrigues could break the Turkish league transfer record this summer, which is currently held by Everton forward Cenk Tosun: “I am speaking with people who are responsible for Garry’s transfer talks. They’ve told me that they are expecting to break the record.”
Tousn joined Everton in January for a fee in the region of £25m, and it seems clubs like Newcastle United may have to offer this for Rodrigues. Tousn’s move to Goddison Park is a transfer record for a player moving from the Turkish Super Lig.
Newcastle United would also have to break their own transfer record after signing Michael Owen in 2005.
The Magpies seem keen to sign Rodrigues this summer after watching him during the Istanbul derby on Sunday, and an offer is expected from the Premier League club.
Everton and West Ham United have also been linked with the Cape Verde international.
