On February 21st, journalist Martín Costa reported Newcastle United sent a scout to Argentina to monitor Boca Juniors’ Kevin Zenón closely.
A day later, Infobae explained that the Argentine club could be forced to consider his exit after the Magpies set their sights on the midfielder.
Fast forward to April and Boca Noticias state that Newcastle are still following the 22-year-old.
Earlier this year, Boca Juniors signed him from Unión Santa Fe and handed him a contract until December 2028. Zenón has scored two goals and registered three assists from 15 games so far this year.
His performances have caught the attention of the European clubs, but the report says that as of now, it’s only Newcastle who are genuinely interested in securing his services.
It’s said Eddie Howe’s side could make an offer to sign the Argentine in the next window. The Magpies may be joined by other teams in the coming weeks and months.
Ther report states Boca Juniors could offer the player an improved deal, which would also see his release clause go from $15m to $20m. For these figures, Zenón can potentially be a bargain for Newcastle.
