Newcastle United and Burnley ‘very far’ from player’s clause, which is suggested as the asking price

Jonathan Viera links to Premier League clubs were inevitable during the winter transfer window, after they were forced so much during the summer.

Back then it was Swansea City most strongly linked with a move for the player, but the claims never really seemed to be strong, and that’s the case again now.

In a snippet tucked away on page 24 of their Saturday edition, Marca reference English claims of interest from Newcastle United and Burnley.

A potential fee of around €20m has been suggested in England as a possible price for Burnley and Newcastle, but Marca point out that’s ‘very far’ from the player’s €30m clause, and that struggling Las Palmas don’t want to sell.

It’s got to be considered unlikely that Newcastle or Burnley would be prepared to pay anything like €30m for the player.

Two goals and three assists in 17 appearances this season aren’t exactly amazing statistics, and it would be a surprise if either Newcastle or Burnley are as interested as has been suggested.
