Newcastle United are ‘considering a new attempt’ to sign Atalanta’s Duván Zapata this summer.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who give an insight into the Magpies’ failed efforts in securing the 31-year-old’s services in the January window.
Eddie Howe’s side then offered to take the striker on a loan deal for €5m, with an obligation to buy set at €30m, if the Tyneside club stayed in the Premier League.
Despite the failure in the winter market, Newcastle have an ‘idea of trying a new attempt’ to land the Colombia international, but this time, they plan to buy him outright.
TMW state it won’t be easy for the Premier League side to convince the Italian club to part ways with Zapata, as they value their star at €40m.
Meanwhile, Il Giorno have a report and their title states Newcastle are ‘interested in Zapata’.
Within the report, they relay claims made in England about the Magpies planning to offer €20m for the player.
Il Giorno state Howe’s side have not presented a real offer to Atalanta, who have no plans to sell the South American.
The latter’s stance could be changed if they were to receive a ‘fair offer’ for the Colombian.
