Over the past day or so, stories have emerged claiming that Newcastle United have made a first move for Victor Nelsson.

The 23-year-old defender was transferred from FC Copenhagen to Galatasaray in the summer for just over £6m, and it hasn’t taken long for other clubs to take notice of his talent.

Newcastle are one of those, with it claimed they had sent a scout to watch the centre-back last week against Barcelona in the Europa League, and the first move has reportedly been made.

Fanatik provide an update on Monday, claiming the Magpies ‘had sacrificed €15m’, meaning they offered €15m, for the defender.

The problem, though, is the amount isn’t sufficient, as Galatasaray ‘find this number low’ and quickly ‘conveyed to the British representative that they would not let Victor Nelsson go for less than €20m’.

This means Newcastle could be just €5m off getting their man, who is said to have a €25m release clause in his contract with the Turkish side.

We’ll have to wait and see if they decide to raise their first offer, but if it’s just a matter of a handful of millions, we can’t see that being too much of a problem for the St James’ Park side.
