Ever since Newcastle United were bought by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, Aaron Ramsey has been linked with a move to St James’ Park.
The Welshman is struggling at Juventus, having failed to convince Max Allegri and others before him, and the Serie A side are now somewhat desperate to get rid of him.
His salary is taking up a hefty chunk of their wage budget, and while there was talk that his contract could be terminated early, that is no longer the case.
Either way, Corriere dello Sport maintain that Ramsey ‘will leave Juventus one way or another’, with a new meeting with his agent, David Baldwin, expected to take place ‘in the coming days’.
As for his destination, ‘the Newcastle hypothesis resists and little else’, meaning it’s really just the Premier League club who could welcome the former Arsenal star.
Juventus, down their end, know that it might be ‘necessary to shoulder a part of the salary’, as they are now ‘open to a loan’, since his contract doesn’t expire until 2023.
This is backed up by Gazzetta dello Sport, who follow a similar trail of thought, pushing the idea that a loan for six months would be the best start, and Newcastle have been the ‘most interested’ so far.
