Newcastle United star Sven Botman has heaped praise on manager Eddie Howe and believes they will secure Champions League football under him this season.

The defender has been speaking to Viaplay, via FEAN Online, after Newcastle’s 2-0 win over Manchester United at the weekend, a key victory in the race for the top four.

That result moved them up to third in the table and level on points with Tottenham and Manchester United in fourth and fifth, although they do have two games in hand over the Magpies.

Nonetheless Eddie Howe’s side are firmly in the race for Champions League football after a superb campaign that has seen them lose just three games all season.

The race for a place at Europe’s top table is one that will go right down to the wire but Botman is convinced Newcastle will come out as one of the winners, highlighting a key aspect Howe has introduced to help them get to where they are.

“He has instilled a style of play and brought faith into the group,” he said.

“He does that so very well. Whether we will get to Champions League football? I am certainly convinced of that, yes.”
