It’s no secret that Christopher Nkunku’s season with RB Leipzig has been good enough to draw the interest from several European sides, as his name has frequently been mentioned in the rumour mill in the past few months.
And according to a report from L’Equipe, Newcastle United are one of those who are set to battle for the player this summer.
The French outlet today claims that the player’s agent Pini Zahavi is expected to work on a move at the end of the season, despite Leipzig’s wish of keeping the player.
Then when naming the ‘top contenders’, the report says Newcastle are looking to ‘return to the charge’ to land him, probably referring to an old attempt from the Magpies to sign the midfielder.
Nkunku, however, may not feel seduced by the chance of joining the Magpies, with L’Equipe claiming the Premier League don’t necessarily ‘leave with the player’s favour’.
Other sides who are interested in the Frenchman are the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain.
So that gives a very good picture of how tough will be the battle for his signing.
According to the story, Leipzig could even reject offers of €100m to let Nkunku go, even though that may just be a bluff for now.
