Askam have today reported Newcastle will send a scout to watch Galatasaray attacker Garry Rodrigues at the weekend.
The Premier League side have been linked with the 27 year old in recent months, and have had two bids already rejected for the player.
It’s been claimed Newcastle United will be in attendance for the clash between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray on Saturday, as they look to step up their pursuit of Rodrigues.
Newcastle United had an €8m offer turned down by the Turkish side in the last window, following their previous attempts to sign the Cape Verde international last summer.
The Turkish media expect the English side to make another attempt to sign Rodrigues in the next transfer window, but it looks like they’ll have to smash their club transfer record.
Last week Galatasary president Mustafa Cengiz confirmed he valued the attacker in the region of €30m, and if Newcastle United were prepared to meet this it would eclipse what they paid Real Madrid for Michael Owen in 2005.
