On Tuesday, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Newcastle United are on the hunt to sign Atalanta’s Éderson in January. It was also said the Italian club won’t consider opening negotiations for less than €40m.
The Magpies seem to be looking to strengthen their midfield, to replace Sandro Tonali, who will miss the rest of the season due to his suspension.
Calciomercato.it state Éderson has different characteristics when compared to Tonali, but Newcastle believe he can fit into their system.
The Brazilian, who has a deal lasting until 2026, has become one of the key players under Gian Piero Gasperini. Therefore, the Serie A side would only consider parting ways with the 24-year-old if there’s an ‘indispensable offer’.
It’s claimed Newcastle are ‘ready to make a pharaonic offer’, and they could reach close to €40m.
The figure quoted here is close to the demand set by Atalanta [as per TMW’s report], and the Tyneside club’s idea is to snatch the player from La Dea in the winter market.
The South American has five goals and one assist from 16 games this season. The report adds that as well as Éderson, Eddie Howe’s side have other names on their agenda.
