Earlier on Friday, we covered a report from the newspaper edition of L’Equipe, which stated a transfer is imminent, and Bruno Guimaraes should soon become a Newcastle United player.
It was made clear that the Magpies had made a second offer for the player, and that Lyon were expected to accept the transfer on Friday. The Ligue 1 side will need to find a replacement so had no interest in the situation dragging out further than it needed to be.
Well, that Friday update has come very quickly, with L’Equipe now reporting online that a full agreement has been reached.
The French newspaper say ‘It’s done’ and Lyon and Newcastle have ‘reached an agreement’ for the player’s transfer, with the deal potentially reaching €50m.
The two clubs involved ‘reached a definitive agreement on Friday morning’, and there’s no further issues between Lyon and Newcastle to worry about.
With the player travelling back to Brazil, he’s set to have a medical on Friday afternoon, and can then become a new member of Eddie Howe’s squad.
