Over the weekend, we carried a report from Sport, who explained Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard is the ‘main target’ for Newcastle United.

It was also stated the La Liga side will open the door ‘wide’ for the forward’s sale, if there is a convincing offer. There was no mention of what figures would be needed to convince the Spanish giants.

The 30-year-old has struggled with form and fitness since he arrived at the Bernabéu from Chelsea in 2019.

Things haven’t improved for him this season as he’s been restricted to a substitute’s rule in recent months under Carlo Ancelotti. The Belgium international managed just 68 minutes in the last seven league matches.

Monday’s edition of Sport has a short report on Hazard, titled: ‘Newcastle will go for him’.

Within the report, it’s stressed the player is not happy with his situation at Real Madrid.

The former Blues star is clear that if his situation doesn’t change, he wants to change clubs next summer. As of now, the Magpies are ‘positioned to sign him’.

Having invested ‘more than €100m’ on his signing, Sport say Real Madrid will not let Hazard leave for ‘less than 50m’.

Whether or not Newcastle are ready to meet Real Madrid’s demands are not mentioned in the report.
