Earlier today, we covered RMC Sport’s information that Bordeaux were interested in Newcastle’s Aleksandar Mitrovic to bolster their attack for the second half of the season.

However, the Ligue 1 side were said to likely have issues with the financial side of the deal, most likely unable to match the Serbia international’s wages.

Well, the reason behind this sudden interest, according to FootMercato, is that Newcastle have started offering the 23-year-old around, as they look to offload him in January.

The French website state Marseille, with summer transfer Kostas Mitroglou struggling to find the back of the net, have also been targeted, as the Magpies ask for around €12m for the striker.

Unfortunately for Rafa Benitez’s side, while Florian Thauvin’s current side would undoubtedly be able to afford Mitrovic, they just weren’t interested.

While the former Anderlecht starlet hasn’t played much this year (two goals in seven appearances), there’s no denying that, when used continuously throughout a season, he can be more than a handful.

That should attract a few suitors, and, hopefully for Newcastle (and him), a move will materialise in the coming weeks.
