Newcastle United have ‘probed the ground’ for Napoli midfielder Allan this summer ahead of a huge summer splurge.
The Magpies are in the midst of a takeover bid by a Saudi investment fund that would see them become the Premier League club with the richest owners, should it be approved.
The potential new owners are expected to spend big overhauling the squad in the summer should they arrive and, according to Arena Napoli, Allan is one they are looking at.
The website explains the Brazilian is expected to leave the Serie A side this summer having seen his relationship with the club deteriorate steadily after a failed move to PSG last year.
Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis is looking for €40m but is yet to receive such a big, the closest being Atlético Madrid’s offer of €25m.
Nonetheless, several clubs are interested, and Newcastle are among them, with intermediaries ‘dredging up the international scene’ on their behalf.
They are ready to invest ‘huge sums’ in the transfer market, suggesting they would be more than willing to pay Allan’s asking price.
The midfielder would like a move to the Premier League, so may be open should an offer arrive from St James Park.
However, it would be ‘even better’ if his options included Everton and Carlo Ancelotti.
The two worked together during the Italian’s stint at Napoli and the Blues boss has been heavily linked with making a move to take him to Goodison Park this summer.
That is seemingly something he is keen on, although It seems the new-found wealth at Newcastle could end up turning his head.
