Konstantinos Mavropanos joined Arsenal in Arsène Wenger’s final transfer window at the Emirates in January 2018, and has struggled to enjoy regular minutes at the north London club.
The defender has been on loan at VfB Stuttgart since 2020 and his fine displays for the German club have seen him attract attention from Newcastle United.
That’s according to Bild and their report mainly focuses on Borussia Dortmund’s interest in the 24-year-old. It’s claimed BVB are a ‘hot candidate’ to take the centre-back.
VfB Stuttgart have an option to make the Greece international’s stay permanent for €3m and the report states ‘it is certain’ the German club will exercise it to retain the defender.
It’s unlikely for Mavropanos to continue with the Bundesliga side beyond this season and the club are likely to collect €25m from his sale.
Although Dortmund are a ‘hot candidate’, Bild explain there are clubs in England chasing the Arsenal owned player. This is when the Magpies are named as one of the ‘interested parties’ to sign centre-back.
Mavropanos has four goals from 13 league appearances this season for VfB Stuttgart.
