Newcastle United and Leicester City ‘take an interest’ in Valencia’s Mouctar Diakhaby, according to AS.
The defender made 26 league appearances for Los Ches last season, but they’ve made him available in the transfer market following his ‘irregular performances’ over the past three years.
Diakhaby’s current deal runs down in 2023 and the La Liga side have already informed the centre-back about their desire to cash in from his sale this summer.
The Frenchman isn’t impacted by the message sent across by Valencia, and wants to use this window to ‘turn his career around’. Even though the former Lyon man is ‘happy’, he already assumes that he will leave Mestalla.
Diakhaby’s desire is to change clubs ‘sooner rather than later’ as the player wants to start pre-season with his new club.
A return to his country could be an option, while moving to the Premier League is ‘on his mind’.
Newcastle and Leicester have an interest in signing the 24-year-old, and the two English clubs have asked Valencia about his situation.
There could be more developments if either the Magpies or Leicester take their interest in Diakhaby further.
