Newcastle United are one of a number of clubs keen on Alban Lafont, report L’Equipe.

The French newspaper believe the Toulouse goalkeeper is continuing to win fans, and subsequently a transfer is increasingly likely during the summer window.

Lafont has been linked with several clubs over the past couple of years, and Rafael Benitez would be up against strong competition should he make a move to sign the 19 year old.

L’Equipe say Napoli are looking at the youngster as a replacement for Pepe Reina, who is widely expected to leave the Italian club when his contract ends in the summer.

That would usually mean Newcastle have little chance, but Napoli’s stance on price could change things.

The French newspaper say Aurelio De Laurentiis, the Serie A side’s president, doesn’t want to go above €10m for Lafont, given his age and relative inexperience.

Newcastle have the ability to pay more, and perhaps Lafont could be swayed by a Premier League move.
