On Wednesday, reports emerged that Newcastle United had turned their attention to AS Roma for Carles Pérez.
The winger is one of the many players the Serie A side are looking to offload, and a ‘low cost attempt’ had reportedly been made by the Magpies.
However, Corriere dello Sport in Italy explain the Spaniard might not be the only player Steve Bruce is interested in from José Mourinho’s side.
According to the Italian newspaper, the Premier League side ‘seem interested’ in Amadou Diawara, who needs to be sold to make room for a new midfielder.
It has been reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers are also keen, and yet the Guinea international has turned down that option, apparently on more than one occasion.
So, if he doesn’t want to head to Molineux, does that mean a move to St James’ Park is also out of the question? Or can Steve Bruce prove himself more convincing than Bruno Lage?
We’ll have to wait and find out.
