If you’ve followed the Newcastle United transfer mill with us, then you’ll know of the club’s interest in Radu Dragusin.

The centre-back has been linked with a move to St James’ Park for a few months now, as his contract at Juventus is currently due to expire in June.

The Serie A champions have been trying to tie him down for a while now, but interest from Newcastle, RB Leipzig and, more recently, Crystal Palace has slowed things down.

Far from being a regular starter, Dragusin, according to Corriere dello Sport, ‘will be there in case of need’ for Andrea Pirlo, who likes what the Romanian has to offer.

First, however, there’s a need to renew his deal, and while Newcastle and co. are interested, Juventus are cautiously optimistic.

It’s stated ‘only trust about white smoke’ regarding an agreement to stay in Turin ‘filters through the mail’, despite the ‘pressing’ from interested European sides.

If Newcastle want to get him, then they’ll have to press harder and most likely quicker, too.
