Last month, we relayed news from France that Newcastle United had made an approach for Lyon’s Martin Terrier in the winter transfer window.
It was explained the Tyneside club’s manager Rafael Benitez was convinced by the forward’s potential, but their efforts to sign him on loan or a permanent deal were rejected by the Ligue 1 outfit.
Thursday’s edition of French newspaper L’Equipe once again reports there were approaches from clubs across Europe for the 21-year-old and the Magpies get a mention again.
Apart from them, Fulham also made an approach for the player, along with Wolfsburg. Unfortunately for Newcastle and Fulham, Lyon were not willing to part ways with their player that they signed from Lille last January.
Terrier’s agent Paul Schianchi also explained why his client was not interested in a move away from the French club.
“The goal is to succeed in Lyon. He is very well integrated in the group, in the city,” Schianchi said.
Terrier has made five starts in the league for Lyon and has scored three goals in the process.
He could have got his first goal in the Champions League against Barcelona, if not for Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s heroics as the tie between the two sides ended in a goalless draw.
