A couple of days ago, we covered claims from Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that Ajax are interested in signing Newcastle’s Tim Krul.
It was reported Newcastle want €5m for Krul, and his wages are also likely to be an issue. Ajax want to permanently sign the player, but might try to sign him on loan.
According to De Telegraaf on Tuesday, Tim Krul is very much open to the idea of signing for Ajax.
Newcastle, however, aren’t really keen on sending out Krul on loan with just on year left on his contract. The Magpies would want Krul to sign a one-year contract extension before sanctioning a loan deal.
Rafael Benitez is hoping for a quick return to the Premier League and would want Krul back at the club next year. If the Magpies fail to win promotion at the end of the season, De Telegraaf believe Ajax will have a chance to sign Krul permanently.
De Telegraaf say Ajax and Newcastle have been negotiating and an agreement could be reached in the coming days.
It’d be interesting to see how this develops in the remaining days of the transfer window.
