On November 28th, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Newcastle United are ahead of others in the chase for Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot.
With a contract expiring at the end of this season, the 27-year-old’s renewal at the Serie A side is increasingly complicated.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say the midfielder can go ‘away immediately’ in January and his sale would help the Old Lady to cash in between €15m and €20m.
It’s said Newcastle United are watching the France international’s developments carefully. The Magpies are ready to make an approach to sign the player if they receive an opening from the Old Lady.
Both Massimiliano Allegri and Juve chief Federico Cherubini could ask the Tyneside club for Allan Saint-Maximin during the talks. If no player is in included in the deal for the former PSG man and if he’s sold, Juve will use the funds raised from his sale to sign a new midfielder.
Journalist Niccolò Ceccarini, writing in his column for TuttoMercatoWeb, also claims Eddie Howe’s side are interested in the Frenchman.
He further adds Newcastle could ‘come forward’ as early as January with a ‘great offer’ to sign Rabiot. This could please Juventus, but Ceccarini warns that it is unlikely the Premier League side will be able to convince the player to make the transfer in the winter market.
