Manchester United are closely following Cody Gakpo in action for the Netherlands at the 2022 World Cup.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who state the Red Devils are the ‘main courtier’ of the PSV Eindhoven star.

The forward scored a goal in all three group stage fixtures for Oranje, who have made it to the last eight of the FIFA tournament. He has also starred for the Eredivisie side this season, managing 13 goals and 17 assists in all competitions.

On December 1st, Voetbal International explained PSV will only sit down with Manchester United to negotiate the 23-year-old’s sale if they offer €50m as a starting point.

This is echoed by Foot Mercato as they claim PSV are reassessing the player’s asking price after his explosion at the World Cup.

Gakpo was valued at €45m in August and it was raised to €60m before the World Cup. After his fine displays for the Netherlands in Qatar, it’s explained PSV have set a new price tag of €75m.

Erik ten Hag has made the player his ‘priority’ target to strengthen Manchester United’s attack after they parted ways with Cristiano Ronaldo.

With the English club named as Gakpo’s ‘main courtier’, it remains to seen whether they will meet PSV’s new valuation to sign him.
