Juventus could be set for a double tussle with Newcastle United for Kalvin Phillips and Fabian Ruiz, with the Magpies potentially interested in both.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the club clubs are going head-to-head with their plans for the January transfer window.
They explain that Juventus are thinking of a move for Kalvin Phillips as they look to cover for suspensions to Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli, who have been suspended for a failed drugs test and illegal gambling respectively.
Manchester City are more than happy to send Phillips to Italy, but the midfielder has other ideas and is ‘thinking of Newcastle’ instead. Thus, there could be a tug of war on the cards for the England international.
And that’s not the only place the two clubs may go head-to-head either as they’re also both interested in Paris Saint Germain’s Fabian Ruiz.
Calciomercato report that as the link between PSG and Juve ‘heats up’, Newcastle are ‘trying to get in on the action’ by ‘immediately offering’ the €30m requested by those in charge at PSG.
Thus, they may have taken a step ahead of their Italian rivals, who seem to be exploring their options rather than making definitive bids at this point.
Either way, as far as they’re concerned in Italy, Newcastle and Juventus are going head-to-head for a potential double tussle over Ruiz and Phillips in the January transfer window.
