It’s time for the French media to now report Newcastle United’s interest in Le Havre captain Arouna Sangante.
On Twitter, Ignazio Genuardi writes that following his ‘notable performances’ with the Ligue 1 side, the centre-back drew the interest from Premier League sides.
Several English clubs are now said to have him ‘under observation’, and Newcastle appear to be the ones ‘in particular’ right now.
The story adds that the Magpies have been monitoring ‘several’ players in France, and there’s no information on whether Sangante shows up as a priority for them at this time.
The youngster is a product of Le Havre’s youth ranks, having made his way through the first team and captaining them at the age of 21.
Right now, Transfermarkt values him at €8m.
Newcastle have been linked to several defenders lately, with Portuguese reports insisting that they’re very keen on the signing of Gonçalo Inácio from Sporting.
That player is set to cost €60m, though, and it seems that the Magpies could find a much cheaper alternative if they try and sign Sangante from Le Havre in the January transfer window.
