Over the summer, there were constant stories about Federico Chiesa being a target for various Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United.
A lot of it was because he was underused by Max Allegri at Juventus, but there were also whispers that a renewal would be difficult to come by since he was asking for a lot at a time when he wasn’t considered overly essential by his manager.
He has certainly played more this season, but the renewal problems, and reported interest from Newcastle, have yet to disappear, as explained by Tutto Juve on Thursday.
They explain that Chiesa ‘will have to renew’ at his current club in the next few weeks if he wants to ‘avoid having one foot out of Juventus’ door’ in the upcoming transfer window.
This is where Newcastle are brought into the mix, as they explain the 26-year-old has ‘multiple suitors’ in England, including the Magpies.
In fact, Eddie Howe’s side are said to be ‘already preparing an offer’ for him, and are ‘willing to bid more than €60m’ to acquire his services.
They aren’t the only ones lurking either, as Arsenal and Chelsea have also considered a potential move for Chiesa.
The Italy international, down his end, ‘will remind in Turin only in the event of a renewal’, meaning that if he continues to ask for too much and doesn’t put pen to paper, those in charge of the Serie A side ‘should consider the sale’.
In short, this is all clearly tied to renewal attempts from Juventus, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it was all part of some agent games to try and get something done in the near future.
