Torino president Urbano Cairo now denies having made an attempt to sign the Watford midfielder Roberto Pereyra.
Speaking to the Italian press, the official has claimed that ‘he never talked about him’, as quoted by Gazzetta Dello Sport today.
Cairo has also claimed that ‘no one will arrive’ to Torino this transfer window, ruling out the possibility of a bluff about Pereyra.
The question from Italian journalists comes after rumours that have been out in the past couple of months.
The local media claimed that Walter Mazzarri, who also worked with Pereyra at Watford, would like to have the player by his side at Torino.
Tuttosport even wrote that the Hornets were demanding €30m for the 27-year-old, and that was pointed out as a huge problem at the time, since Torino couldn’t afford such an amount.
So now speaking the truth or not, Cairo won’t be seen as the president who gave up on the transfer because they didn’t have the money for it.
