Opinion pieces from HITC have formed many Leeds United transfer rumours, and Felipe Caicedo is yet another player involved.
But this one may be getting slightly out of hand.
Firstly, Espanyol’s specialist newspaper La Grada picked it up. The Ecuadorian striker spent three years there before moving to Lazio in 2017. It was claimed Caicedo ‘would welcome the possibility’ of returning to English football.
This sounded like the HITC piece had been picked up and the player’s entourage asked about it.
Over in Italy, it’s caught the eye because Lazio want to let Caicedo go. Two Italian newspapers picked up the story on Wednesday, with Gazzetta dello Sport saying Leeds ‘want’ the player.
Thursday’s edition of the newspaper reports that negotiations to sell the striker to Leeds United will take ‘precedence’, and perhaps we now have a situation which will see Lazio actively try to sell the player.
The Italian club paid Espanyol €2.5m for Caicedo last summer and he scored 6 goals in 33 appearances. Most of those appearances were as a substitute and he played around 1300 minutes, meaning a goal every 216 minutes or so.
The goals came against Zulte Waregem (2), Nice, Sampdoria, Benevento and Atalanta.
