Deportivo La Coruna are at least going to try and keep Carles Gil, report El Ideal Gallego. The will is there, certainly from Gil himself, but the assumption is that Depor will find it hard, if not impossible, to please Aston Villa.
The Galicia club are going to ‘undertake an effort’ to sign Gil, given how he gradually grew into form. It wasn’t a straightforward success story for the Aston Villa owned player, and he had to get used to the team’s way of playing. But, when he finally did, Gil became an important player and helped his loan side stay up.
El Ideal Gallego report that any negotiations with Aston Villa have to take place with the weighing reality of Depor’s ‘delicate economic situation’, and Gil is expected to put pressure on to try and help the process.
With Gil making no secret of his desire to stay where he’s spent the last season, it’s hoped that him communicating that to Aston Villa will help.
Depor want a ‘beneficial purchase price’ from Aston Villa and any move will depend on just how low they believe that to be.
