It looks like even Argentina’s U23 manager believes Santiago Sosa is close to making a move to Everton this summer.
Fernando Batista has been interviewed by newspaper Olé this Monday, after returning from the U20 World Cup, and is now planning the Pan American which will be played in Peru.
And it turns out that when speaking about Santiago Sosa, who was a regular starter in the World Cup, he’s claimed that his performances at the national team helped him to get a move.
“Wearing the national team shirt gives you prestige. Look at the case of Santiago Sosa, they are about to sell to Everton for major money and he played more games with us than with River,” said Fernando Batista.
In the past couple of days, there hasn’t been any updates on Sosa’s case.
There’s a consensus in the Argentina media that Everton are ready to trigger his release clause, but there’s been no green light since his agent travelled to England to sort out his work permit.
It looks difficult to get that permit so unless there’s a brilliant appeal planned, or EU heritage suddenly turns up in his family tree, this is a complicated one to complete.
