It’s no secret that the Danish media love the idea of Christian Eriksen potentially moving to Barcelona or Real Madrid.
For years they’ve picked up on any half claim regarding the Tottenham player and turned it into something much bigger. On international breaks, not only is the Spurs star himself asked about potentially leaving his club, but his teammates and manager are also often quizzed on it.
With Tottenham playing in the Champions League semi-finals tonight, it’s given Danish newspaper BT a chance to bring up the prospect again.
They’ve spoken to Morten Olsen, who managed Eriksen for much of his career with the Danish national team. It’s fair to say the two didn’t exactly always see eye to eye, and the footballer has probably felt more freedom since Olsen left the role.
That said, the manager is obviously a big fan.
BT say Olsen is ‘in no doubt’ that Eriksen would be able to fit in at a ‘bigger’ club next season. He believes the 27 year old has chosen a ‘fantastic career path’ which prepares him for whatever lies ahead.
Olsen is quoted as saying: “He will be able to fit in with all the best teams. Whether it’s continuing at Tottenham is to be seen. In another big club he will also be able to influence the game immediately.”
Should Tottenham get to the Champions League final, and potentially even win the competition, then an exit may be less likely.
