Every now and again, the Belgian media report Anderlecht are keen on Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The striker isn’t having the best of times at Newcastle United and an exit during the current window wouldn’t be a surprise, so his ‘name is on the table again’ report HLN.

Trying to get a transfer sorted out with Newcastle United is said to have returned as an option for Anderlecht, because they have an urgent need for a striker. They want someone who is affordable and who knows Belgian football well.

The latter certainly fits for Mitrovic but it’s the former there could be trouble with. Even if Anderlecht could agree a deal with Newcastle United, the Belgian club are hardly going to match English weighted wages.

That would either mean the striker taking a pay cut or Newcastle United subsidising part of the player’s salary if it were a loan move, or giving him a pay off on a permanent transfer.

It would be difficult and with Anderlecht not seeming especially keen it’s perhaps one which can wait until the 30th or 31st and then see whether that desperation for a striker can change things.
