Radja Nainggolan’s recent quotes about Antonio Conte haven’t gone down well in Italy. After revealing the Chelsea manager’s approaches to sign him, the midfielder could now end up staying at Roma.
According to Corriere Dello Sport, the Roma board have reacted to the quotes by telling Nainggolan’s agent that the player is off the market and will stay at the club for the next season.
Roma reportedly expect to offer the midfielder a new contract with better wages. Nainggolan currently earns €4m per season at the Italian club, which a sum made up of his basic salary and then bonuses for certain achievements.
Nainggolan signed a contract renewal last year, which commits him to Roma until June 2020.
He’s likely to get a renewal if he stays at Roma and there’s every chance he’s pushing for such a situation. Originally very negative about a move to Chelsea, Nainggolan has recently started to sound more positive.
The Belgium international is very important to Roma and perhaps he wants some kind of salary parity with local hero De Rossi.
