Tottenham star Pedro Porro has admitted he still gets excited playing for the club as it’s a reward for the hard work to get there.

DAZN have an interview with the defender today in which he insists he is still thrilled every time he steps on to the pitch for Tottenham.

The Spanish full-back has established himself as a key player for Tottenham since arriving on loan from Sporting Club de Portugal in January 2023.

Tottenham initially paid €5m for that deal but it was made permanent the following summer, with them paying €40m for his services.

It marked a permanent return to the Premier League for the defender, who had previously been with Manchester City but failed to make it at the Etihad.

He joined them for €12m from Girona but failed to make a single appearance in sky blue, instead heading on loan to Real Valladolid and Sporting Lisbon, who eventually signed him on a permanent basis.

He flourished in Portugal, with 12 goals and 20 assists in 98 games for the club before his eventual move to Tottenham, where he has 10 goals and 20 assists in 101 games to date.

It’s been a winding journey to get to that point, including a ropey debut for Spurs, and he admits he still gets goosebumps at the thought of his progress.

“I’m left with a bad moment, which was my debut here, because that gave me the extra boost of saying: I have to take a step further (…) It gave me the extra boost of being able to enjoy the Premier League today,” he said.

“To this day, my hair still stands on end when I see where I am. It’s true that there’s a lot of work behind it.

“Other people might call it luck, or whatever, but from the first moment I told my family I wanted to be a footballer, I dreamed of experiencing moments like this, in a stadium like this, and at a club like this. It’s something I’ve had in mind since I was a kid.”
