Club Brugge’s refusal to accept West Ham United’s second bid of €11m plus €2m bonuses for Hans Vanaken saw the Premier League side shift their focus to Lucas Paquetá.

Two days ago, reports coming out of Belgium stated the Hammers are not done yet as they are using ‘tried & tested’ tactics to get multiple players in.

On Friday, Goal Brasil stated West Ham have reached an agreement with Lyon for Paquetá and he is set to arrive in London today for medical.

Even though they are close to signing Paquetá, the English club ‘continues to aim’ for the Club Brugge captain.

That’s according to Saturday’s Het Belang van Limburg, who say David Moyes ‘still hopes’ a new approach will be made for the Belgium international. It’s claimed the manager is ‘internally pushing’ West Ham to make a third bid for the 30-year-old.

Moyes’ side, if they make an improved proposal, will have to convince Club Brugge to let go of their star. He started in his side’s 3-1 win over Charleroi on Friday and managed an assist in the process.

Meanwhile, Club Brugge manager Carl Hoefkens is still not able to confirm Vanaken’s stay beyond the summer window.

“I regularly speak with Hans. He is just training and has prepared for the Charleroi match, as he always does. What the outcome will be in this case, that is something that will mainly be arranged between Hans and the board,” he said, as quoted by Voetbal Nieuws.
