It would be a ‘dream’ for Manchester City defender Pedro Porro to join Real Madrid this summer.
That’s according to his former youth coach Óscar de Paula Gamero, who says the Portuguese defender and his family have always supported the Spanish giants.
Porro joined City in a £10.8m move from Girona in 2019 but has spent the last two years out on loan, first at Real Vallodolid and current Sporting Lisbon.
It is the latter of those where he has really shone, establishing himself as a key player for Sporting this season with 27 appearances in Liga NOS this season.
They have an option to turn his move into a permanent one, and all indications for the past few months have been that he will trigger the clause to do so.
Sporting aren’t the only ones who are apparently keen, though, with reports in Portugal indicating that Real Madrid could also make a move for the Manchester City man.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, but according to his former coach, a move to the Bernabeu is one he’d be keen to make.
“Pedro has already shown that he can perform at the highest level at any club that wants him and offers him the right context,” he told AS.
“I’m sure that wherever he goes, he will continue to make history.
“I think I remember that both he and his family supported Real Madrid, but I’m not 100% sure.
“As for players, he liked Cristiano Ronaldo a lot; he wore his Nike boots with the initials CR7 during his time with the Extremadura national team.
“I think he was his footballing role model.
“I think this (moving to Madrid) is a question for the man himself, he already belongs to Manchester City although Sporting are considering exercising their option to buy him; and I understand that for him it would be another dream come true if it were the case.”
