RB Leipzig ‘might be willing to talk’ to Tottenham if they wish to hire Julian Nagelsmann as Jose Mourinho’s replacement this summer.
That’s according to BILD journalist Christian Falk, who says the German club are determined to keep their manager away from Bayern Munich.
Nagelsmann has emerged as one of the hottest young managers in Europe over the last few years, a reputation he has continued to build thanks to his fine work with Leipzig.
He has long been linked with some of the biggest jobs, and Tottenham are thought to be keen should they decide to part ways with Mourinho this summer.
Indeed, reports in Germany back in February stated that Nagelsmann would be keen on the move should Tottenham offer it, although he would only be using them as a stepping stone to an elite club down the line.
There’s been little else since then, but his name continues to be linked with the club as the pressure now mounts on Mourinho to turn things around after a disappointing campaign so far.
Whether the interest is genuine remains to be seen, but Falk says Tottenham have a chance if they do make a move.
“It’s clear his (Mourinho’s) hours are counting down,” he told BILD.
“It is no secret that Brendan Rodgers was actually the dream solution, but he has a contract with Leicester until 2025, so he is not available.
“Therefore, they (Tottenham) sound out the market and Julian Nagelsmann is a name that comes up again and again.
“I heard in Leipzig that if Bayern call, they won’t give him away because they don’t want to let him leave for their direct rivals in Germany, but if they call from England, I heard they might be willing to talk.
“If they pay a transfer fee and Tottenham have the money, it’s possible.”
