On November 25th, we carried a report from SportBild, who explained Tottenham Hotspur have made their interest in signing Marcel Sabitzer know ‘several times’.
Spurs experienced first-hand the 26-year-old’s qualities when RB Leipzig defeated the north London club twice in the Champions League knockout stage last season.
The midfielder scored a brace in the return leg.
Tottenham manager José Mourinho is a big fan of the Austria international and Bild have a report on the player, titled ‘Mourinho chases Bundesliga star’.
Within the report, it’s stated the former Chelsea manager has ‘kept an eye’ on Sabitzer for months, especially because he impressed during the European matches against the Premier League side.
Sabitzer missed the first few matches of this season due to an injury. Having regained full fitness in October, he has been a regular for the German club.
The German outlet states the Austrian is an ‘extremely valuable’ to Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann. His contract runs down in 2022.
Bild also mention Mundo Deportivo’s report that explained Tottenham’s willingness to pay around €50m for Sabitzer. It’s stated Spurs view him as a potential candidate to succeed Tanguy Ndombele, as the Frenchman has emerged as a target for Barcelona.
Mundo’s report has also been carried out by English publications over the past two days.
It’s important to note these outlets have cited a report published by the Catalan paper in April, and it has been recirculated by Bild and other publications in the past few days.
