Relegated Huddersfield Town are having a torrid time under manager Jan Siewert.

David Wagner left in January, feeling he couldn’t help the club any longer and needed a rest.

Whilst it wasn’t expected that Siewert would propel Huddersfield to Premier League safety, it also wasn’t expected that things would be quite this bad.

The Terriers aren’t helped by the fact several of the squad are already considering their next moves, with some even speaking about it repeatedly, but there’s not been sure signs of progress or reasons to build hope for an immediate return to the top flight.

Meanwhile, Wagner, who did so well with the Yorkshire club, has been resting and waiting for opportunities to come his way.

German newspaper Bild say he’s now the ‘hottest candidate’ to take over at Schalke.

Despite his coaching past at fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund, Bild say Wagner is the top option. It’ll help that he played for Schalke, and his time at BVB was very much in the shadows.
