On December 17th, Sky Deutschland reported the race for Youssoufa Moukoko’s signature is heating up and Chelsea are the ‘closest’ to signing the Borussia Dortmund star.
Two days later, Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg explained the Blues have held concrete talks about the figures of the deal to bring the 18-year-old to the west London club.
With Chelsea among several top clubs interested in the striker, his future at the club remains uncertain.
The Germany international’s deal runs down next June and Bild state the Bundesliga side have made a ‘final pain limit offer’ of €6m per year. Moukoko earns €1.8m per year and the latest proposal made by Dortmund will allow him to triple his salary.
However, this offer is deemed insufficient by the teenager’s camp, who are demanding a deal in excess of €7m annually. If BVB don’t accept their demands, there is a ‘risk’ of a transfer next summer.
From January 1st, the attacker can negotiate with foreign clubs without informing BVB. This will benefit Chelsea as they are among the clubs interested in him.
Bild state that in the end ‘money will be decisive’ in deciding Moukoko’s future. His camp, suitors and the Dortmund leaders are all aware of it.
