Mogi Bayat is the man who Eupen have put in charge of selling Henry Onyekuru. The Belgian club promised Onyekuru he could leave this summer after denying him a Celtic move during the winter transfer window.
Onyekuru wasn’t pleased with Eupen’s decision and went AWOL, but eventually worked his way back in and did well enough to attract Premier League clubs, a bigger dream for him. Things worked out rather well.
Eupen, knowing a sale is probable, were keen not to get in a mess of agents and people trying to build deals without authority, so they allowed agent Mogi Bayat to sell Onyekuru on their behalf, everything would have to go through him.
A middleman known well in Belgium football, it was an interesting move for Eupen to bring Mogi Bayat in, and one which Onyekuru seems content with.
This is where Everton come in. Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad published a story in the middle of the night claiming Mogi Bayat was in England to close a transfer with Everton.
Onyekuru, 20 years old, would then be loaned to Anderlecht for a season by Everton, helping the youngster continue his development. Despite problems getting one, the striker now has a UK work permit, according to Het Nieuwsblad, so that isn’t the reason for Everton looking to a loan.
Anderlecht taking the player for next season has been reported for some weeks in Belgium, with the idea of a loan mentioned more than once. Perhaps it was just a case of finding a buying club to agree, and that could be Everton.
Henry Onyekuru is very much seen as a rising star in Belgium, it could be smart move by Everton to get him signed up, and another smart move to let him have a year at Anderlecht.
