According to a claim in the Italian media, Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka wants to remain with the Premier League side despite interest from Itlay.

The Swiss international has been linked with a move to AS Roma in recent days. We covered reports at the weekend that Roma sport director Monchi has set his sights on the Arsenal player as they look to bring in a midfielder in this transfer window.

The Serie A side sold Radja Nainggolan to Inter Milan earlier this summer and they’ve also been linked with Sevilla’s Steven Nzonzi.

However, Calciomercato report Roma face a ‘mission impossible’ to sign Xhaka as the player isn’t interested in a move to the Italian club.

It’s also claimed Arsenal have no intention of selling the central midfielder to Roma and he will be in Unai Emery’s plans for the coming season.

Xhaka is contracted to Arsenal until June 2023 after signing an extension in June.
