Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has given an exclusive interview to Le Foot this Sunday. The representative talked about the Frenchman’s transfer to Manchester United, asndhe also revealed that other clubs were in the race.
“When the competition ended, he asked to go on holiday,” Raiola said. “It was logical, since he was mentally tired. He was disappointed to lose this final.
“During his rest, I met him only once, it was in Miami. I went to make him aware of the developments in the negotiations. He clearly told me what he wanted. For Paul, Manchester has always been his home.”
On the competition to take Pogba from Juventus, the agent commented: “Last year, José Mourinho already tried to recruit him to Chelsea. But it was not the right time for Paul to leave.
“Regarding the interest of Real Madrid, I think Zinedine Zidane wanted him. He wasn’t the only one too. There were four or five other clubs who wanted my client. Zidane was a great player, Real Madrid are a great club. But for me Manchester United are stronger since my player plays there.”
There were repeated claims in the Spanish media that Zidane wanted to sign Pogba, and had asked Real Madrid to look into it, but the club’s president Florentino Perez thought the price had gone too high.
It seems it was not just bla bla bla, after all.
