Paris Saint-Germain confirmed on Monday that Thiago Silva has extended his stay at the club until the end of the season. His initial contract was set to expire today.
The defender is available on a free transfer in the upcoming window and clubs across Europe are interested in acquiring his services.
According to Le10 Sport, Arsenal are thinking about the Brazil international.
The Gunners are looking to strengthen the heart of their defence next season, which is why they have joined the chase for the centre-back.
It’s claimed Mikel Arteta ‘would have contacted’ the 35-year-old. Silva’s compatriot David Luiz is at the Emirates and the former Chelsea man facilitated the talks between the Arsenal manager and the PSG player.
Le10 add Luiz would have ‘served as an intermediary’ and is pushing for the ex-Milan man to arrive in the English capital.
Apart from the Gunners, the report states Everton are also chasing the PSG star and he is tempted by the prospect of playing in England.
It remains to be seen whether or not the conversation with Arteta, and Luiz’s convincing skills, will be sufficient for Arsenal to sign Silva.
