Signing from Boca Juniors last summer, Nahitan Nández didn’t take long to impress at Cagliari under Walter Zenga, to the point where West Ham wanted him in January.
Attempts were unsuccessfully made by the Hammers as the Serie A side weren’t interested in selling just six months after acquiring the player, and a return to action from David Moyes’ side could take place this summer.
However, his agent appears to have bigger and greater things planned for his client if possible, as teams like Chelsea and Arsenal have been approached about a potential transfer.
This is what Corriere dello Sport are reporting on Tuesday, claiming Nández’s ‘attorney is also working with’ the Blues and the Gunners ‘to figure out if there is room for negotiation’.
Whether that means Frank Lampard and Mikel Arteta, both looking to bolster their respective midfielders this summer, actively want Nández isn’t said, but if they are, there might not be a need for extensive talks.
That’s because the Uruguayan has a release clause of €36m in his contract, and ‘whoever is able to pay it would free the player’.
It’s not all that simple, however, since the Cagliari’s president, Tommaso Giulini, wants to keep the midfielder beyond the current campaign ’to rebuild a competitive and ambitious’ club going forward.
Then again, if you ask us, there’s a lot you can do with €36m…
