It’s been a while since the South American press claimed Nicolas De La Cruz was about to move to Manchester City. And although nothing has happened so far, the interest from the Premier League club continues to be commented on in the Argentine media.
Newspaper Olé reports today there’s a ‘restlessness’ from River Plate as they worry the midfielder may soon be moving to Europe.
It’s claimed that his agent Pedro Casal has been looking for offers, and one of them could come from Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola keen on triggering the player’s €22m release clause.
River Plate are concerned they only own 30% of the player, so if he leaves for the release clause, they would only keep €6.6m of that.
De La Cruz has recently been asked about Manchester City’s interest, and he’s admitted that the transfer would be a step forward in his career.
Given the small percentage that River Plate have over the player, it seems obvious they would only let him go for the price of the release clause.
