Currently fourth in the Championship, a mere two points behind second placed Swansea with a game in hand, Brentford are looking for a late push to get that all elusive promotion to the Premier League.

Having now received the final money from West Ham for the transfer of Saïd Benrahma, it appears they could make a late deal for a midfielder in Serie A.

That’s according to Corriere Granata journalist Matteo Pedrosi, who took to social media to explain Torino are looking at last minute deals to bolster their squad in their battle against relegation, and Lukas Lerager, currently at Genoa, falls into that category.

They aren’t the only ones after the Dane, however, as Brentford have ‘inserted themselves in the last few hours’, making things difficult for the Serie A side.

Alternatives are being looked at Njegos Petrovic, currently at Red Star Belgrade, and Jasmin Kurtic at Verona, although the latter appear to have stopped talking about their midfielder.

This suggests Brentford could have a good chance at getting their man, perhaps hoping to use the Danish connection with Thomas Frank to their advantage?

You will also want to know that this has been backed up by Corriere dello Sport, who state Lerager has ‘ended up in the sights of both FC Copenhagen and Brentford’.
