On Thursday, we covered an article from DH in Belgium explaining that, back in December, Anderlecht were already preparing for Leander Dendoncker’s summer exit, having tried to sign Ibrahima Seck from KRC Genk.
This was great news for West Ham, as the Senegalese midfielder was seen as the ideal replacement for the 23-year-old, but instead of signing for the Jupiler Pro League champions on a free in July, he decided to renew with his current club.
This was a big hint that Dendoncker would be leaving in the summer, yet, on Friday, the same outlet still have a warning for the Belgium international: up your game.
The West Ham target hasn’t exactly been at his best, and the player even admitted he wouldn’t have been surprised if Roberto Martinez had overlooked him this international break.
DH state Dendoncker is aware that he needs to ‘show something else’ or face the consequences.
In this case, that would be staying at Anderlecht for a few more months, something he has no interest in doing.
The Belgium outlet also reveal Dendoncker has very little interest in playing at centre-back, a role ‘he doesn’t like’.
If David Moyes wants to buy him, it’ll have to be to play as a defensive midfielder at West Ham, then.
