Mesut Ozil signed a new contract earlier this year when Arsene Wenger was in charge at Arsenal.
Unai Emery was appointed as the Frenchman’s successor in the summer and the former’s relationship with 30-year-old has fractured, if reports from Tutto Mercato Web are to be believed.
The World Cup winner with Germany last featured for the Gunners in his side’s 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.
It’s claimed the strained relationship between the ex-Sevilla manager and the German is ‘tense’, and it could see the latter leave the Emirates in January.
TMW mentions Ozil wants to find Cristiano Ronaldo, either as his teammate or his opponent in the same league. This reason, coupled with his desire to try out a new league – the Serie A – has made him consider making a switch to Italy.
The Arsenal player ‘would like to try an experience in Italy’.
Emery is mentioned as a ‘main motivation’ behind the former Real Madrid star’s decision to leave his current employer, but his contract at Arsenal lasts until 2021 and that could make it difficult for Serie A clubs in signing him.
It’ll be interesting to see how things develop in the coming weeks. The less Ozil plays, the more rumours will appear.
